I am not sure if I am on the right forum as this is my first attempt!
I would like to make sellers aware of sending via Global Shipping which I have used for many years but now have a problem sending that way.
I always, like many others, get my label via Ebay so I know exactly where the item is going ie Lichfield Hub.
November 19th last year I sold an item overseas by the method above. This morning I get a message from ebay saying that the buyer has opened up a case due to not receiving the item.
I was surprised but not too worried as the item was going on quite a long journey and I have the tracking number... but then I saw the tracking history. Instead of sending on to Lichfield hub, it had gone no further than to North West Midlands MC (not good says my postie partner). Bearing in mind that was nearly 4 months ago, where the heck is my item? Why have they not returned it to me? And how come it did not get sent to the correct address?
I have yet to deal with this but I have checked in my bundle of PO receipts and typically not got the one I need. So I will probably have to refund and lose the item and the money. Thankfully not too expensive but now I feel I cannot trust sending by Global Shipping because this could happen when I send out an item worth hundreds. Rant over!

Maybe you forgot to select Send it to the UK Shipping Centre when listing.
You loose protection if you don't send to the hub and get tracking to that affect.

You mention tracking states at the Royal Mail hub. Have you also checked this on the Royal Mail site as the tracking on eBay is not always the most reliable. If the Royal Mail tracking says it was delivered you will be covered.
also there is another very good postal tracking service we use called parcelsapp just Google it.
did you put a short senders address on the parcel? It can take up to six months for items to be returned. Oddly we had an item from Italy last month that the buyer had failed to collect that had been posted in may of last year.

I checked on RM site for the history of the tracking. Shows the item left from our local post office and then sent to NWM. No, does not say delivered...just stalls at that point.
I don't know what a short sender address is. I just print off the GBP label provided by ebay which gives the Lichfield hub address. All done for me. Not had any problems for past few years until now.
One interesting point my partner (once a RM delivery postie) has said was that this could have been a fault by our local post office.
He says post offices have two sacks, one for parcels booked for UK. The other sack for overseas.
He thinks, as the address to Lichfield was correct, this must have ended up in the wrong sack.
What it does not explain is why this was not recognised and why it has not been returned to me. But maybe it will be eventually. I will definately look into parcelsapp. Many thanks for your reply to my post.

It’s nothing to do with the post office potentially putting in the wrong sack they and Royal Mail don’t segregate that way. Royal Mail require the post office to segregate in three ways 2nd class/tracked 48 in one hold, letters large letters ( this can include international as long as sized correctly and 1st class parcels again includes international. So three separate sacks. Green sacks for secure mail eg registered and bags with red crosses tied to them ppi or returns etc.
it sounds as though your parcel has been misplaced by Royal Mail. Rm have other screens which aren’t shown, so ring them to see if they can offer any further assistance.

It always pays to put house number/name and Post Code on anything posted.
That is a short address, which will find you.
