Item not received, seller gave unrelated tracking details and won both the case and appeal

I ordered a £6.48 roll of Duck tape on 9/11. The seller marked it as despatched (untracked) the following day. It hadn't arrived by 17/11 so I messaged the seller but received no response, ordered elsewhere and opened a case.

On 21/11 the seller responded and submitted tracking details which showed a signed for delivery to a postcode which according to Google Maps is 5.5 miles away from mine. Ebay has asserted on several occasions that because there was a successful delivery 'to my address' my claim for a refund is denied.

I sent ebay a screenshot of the Fedex tracking details which shows delivery to the other postcode but they continue to state that this is to my address where I have lived for the past 32 years and used as my registered ebay address for the past 25.

OK, it's only £6.48 but ebay's response so far defies logic.

...just discovered on the Fedex website that the tracking number was created on 7/11, which was two days before I ordered the tape. So false tracking details or great work on behalf of the seller to anticipate my needs?

Contact your payment provider, they are more likely to help than ebay robots who have no common sense.

Seller is obviously deliberately  giving false info., being forced to refund will perhaps teach them a lesson, plus you should leave negative feedback. Be careful what you say so thst it cannot be removed.  I suggest just say “Unsatisfactory transaction”, and mark down star ratings.

Thanks @john1297576 I got an instant refund from my bank which ebay will probably charge to my account as a debt. I also left a factual 500/500 character neg with single stars for the seller.

My factual, epithet-free 500 character long neg never made it to the seller's feedback profile since sending three and a half hours ago. I've been on the phone with ebay for the last hour to hopefully have these issues looked at by a manager. They're getting back to me😂

This is why short feedback is better.

It might have been the implied criticism of ebay that attracted the censor. If they get back to me 'within 48 hours' as promised it's one of the topics I've raised.

Very likely.  Feedback on a seller is not the place for feedback on ebay.

I know you have been refunded via your bank, but ebay should have done this. For tracking to be validated by ebay it has to be uploaded within 24 hours of a parcel being dispatched and from what you say this clearly didn't happen.

Re: Item not received, seller gave unrelated tracking details and won both the case and appeal

The item was declared as sent untracked  on 10/11 and the seller added  the unrelated tracking number on 21/11, the day before I asked ebay to step in and decide the case in my favour on the basis of the obvious discrepancy between my postcode and that given in the successful tracking record.

I sent ebay a screenshot from Google Maps of my location relative to the delivery location but they weren't swayed. Several emails from different ebay CS employees followed. I restated my position and included details from the Fedex website which clearly shows that the delivered item began its journey on Friday 7/11 which was two days before I placed my order on the afternoon of Sunday 9/11.

The most recent email from ebay was still unrelenting but gave me the phone number of Fedex so I could sort it out with them😕:

"I would like to inform you that as an online platform, we do not have an option but to rely on the tracking to come to a conclusion. As in this case, the tracking was showing the item as delivered. I completely believe you when you are saying that you have not received the item.

As further steps to resolve this issue, I would recommend you to kindly communicate with the courier company, to know the whereabouts of the item. For you ease, I am providing you a direct contact of the courier company".
