My item was sold outside of Ebay, where it was also listed. How to show this? I've finally managed to  amend item as no longer for sale, but it just looks like I've decided not to,  etc - not a good look for buyers.

You cannot mark it as sold on your eBay listing if it was sold outside of eBay,worth noting that eBay does not allow items to be listed on their site and another unless you have enough items to fulfill allorders from all sites

You have decided not to sell on ebay, so the look is exactly right.  You also broke Ebay's listing rules.

I didn't know that. I'm never sold on ebay. A neighbour simply popped in, saw the table and liked it. Not trying to be a smartarse.

I didn't know that. I've never sold on ebay before. A neighbour simply popped in, saw the table and liked it. Wasn't trying to be a smartarse. Rest assured I'm getting lots of awful comments.

Why then did your neighbour not buy it through eBay?

eBay's rules for only selling on their site and on no other or to not make any off eBay sales ,  is for the simple reason ( aside from losing fees ), you may end up with 2 buyers and one item,  and one very disappointed buyer.

eBay do not like to disappoint buyers,  as they tend not to come back to their site to buy.

It also can result in damaging defects on a sellers account, doesn't take many defects for eBay to ban a seller,  and bad feedback from that disappointed buyer.

Hope the above doesn't come across as too harsh , it's not meant to, but just to advise you of the reasons for not also selling elsewhere, when you list your items for sale on eBay. 🤗
