Help filling out the postage section for my first time selling

Hi, I am going to be selling for the first time on eBay and I need a bit of help on the postage section when getting my listing ready. So I am going to be selling two paintings and I got a quote online from the courier DPD but I'm a bit confused on what I need to put in the postage section. So I got a quote from them where I could list the exact dimensions of the package, weight, included extra cover as it's a high priced item that needs the extra insurance etc. So when filling out the postage section I have put postage and collection in person. Then under postage set up I choose custom postage. Then it gets to package size and none of them are or near the dimensions of my paintings and when I do select one of the bigger sizes DPD no longer appears as an option to use. So is there a way in which I can set it to be sold with no courier selected then when I sell the items I can then go and get my quote through the DPD website with all the correct dimensions etc etc and then send it that way or does it not work that way. I want the buyer to be able to track the parcel as well so can I do this if I was to do it that way around. I'm sorry but it's my first time selling and I'm really not sure and don't want to mess the listing up. Thanks for any help anyone can give. Thanks

Don't enter the dimensions of the parcel and you should then be able to put the postage and courier you want to use.   You will probably have to buy the postage label direct from DPD, rather than ebay.

When you buy postage outside of ebay just remember to mark dispatched and add the tracking number manually via the dropdown menu arrow for the item on your orders page.

Thanks for your fast reply. So I have gone on the postage page and selected custom package then automatically it says package size cabin luggage 1kg 61 x 46 x 46 . My courier service shows up that way DPD next day but it doesn't have the right kg package weight, dimensions and compensation I require listed beneath so do I just select that then I can purchase the service direct through DPD website afterwards. Is that right or am I going wrong somewhere. Also I want to offer international shipping as well through dpd but they are not listed on there only standard and economy shipping. So again how would I go about doing that. If I selected standard then I have to put a postage cost but it's different prices to send to different countries so how would you determine what price to put. I'm so sorry but as I said obviously I'm new to selling so am a bit confused. Thanks

Postage on ebay is a bit of a mess at the moment and very confusing.   For your scenario you need to get rid of Simple Delivery.   After selecting Custom Postage click on the "See postage options" icon on the right of the postage section.   There you can add international postage.   You keep adding addional services for each area/country you want.

Help filling out the postage section for my first time selling

Hi, I have been setting up my listing and I am almost there but I still seem to have one problem. So under the international postage section I have selected economy international postage and I have setup a rates table which I select to use as my rates but there's a box next to the economy international postage box which says 'buyer pays £' . I left that blank as I thought it would use the rates table that I have selected but I went to list the auction but it comes up with a red error saying something is missing or something like that then highlights that buyer pays box. So I just wanted to ask for some help with that and I should be all good to go. Thanks so much for all your help so far. Thanks

I am not sure, but at one time new sellers could not immediately post overseas.

You do say HIGH VALUE, but then refer to INTERNATIONAL ECONOMY, which would not give suitable cover.

I think as a new seller you would be well advised NOT to offer overseas shipping, or to use  the Global Shipping Programme.

Help filling out the postage section for my first time selling

Hi and thanks for your reply and advice. The global shipping program would of been a great way for me and much easier but I have opted in for it but it doesn't appear when I go to the international shipping section of the listing I'm creating. I'm guessing I can probably not use it if this is my first time selling. I was thinking it would be easier to sell having bought on eBay for so many years but the international shipping is becoming a problem so might have to leave that. It's a shame as what I am selling might have some interest to international buyers but if it's to much hassle I will leave it and see what I can get from here.

Help filling out the postage section for my first time selling

I have decided just to sell in the UK will be easier. Lastly is probably really simple but I wanted to make sure so I know what to do if or when my items sell. So I have selected parcelforce 24 as my courier and have offered free postage so I wanted to know when someone buys do I then go to parcelforce to buy the delivery service or do you do that through eBay now I have selected them as my courier. I'm so sorry for all the questions. Thanks
