False Policy Strikes

Over the past few days, I have been getting about 10 strikes per day on my listings for policy violations, however, these policy violations are entirely incorrect. I sell collectable (expired) number plates, and I keep getting 'police related item' strikes, I appeal them all stating that they are in no way police related, the first three appeals got approved, but the previous 8 appeals I have submitted haven't been replied to at all.

Every few hours, another few listings appear with a strike...I have to keep disputing them all. I've never had any strikes before this started happening.

Is there a solution? Or will I need to keep disputing multiple strikes daily?

I would suggest you don't list until resolved.

Too many strikes and ebay  can suspend your account.

Re: False Policy Strikes

Is there any common factor about the ones that get removed?

For example all UK plates?

Re: False Policy Strikes

No factor at all - seems to be picking randomly, some listings from last week, some from months ago.

I doubt whether listings are being picked randomly. You need to try to identify possible patterns in the items removed from sale.

For example, you refer in your listings to observing eBay's 3 year in the UK for expired number plates. But you also sell plates internationally - what about any rules that apply in other coutries? Have you checked what rules may apply on the ebay.com site? Or other national sites. Try to think what rules eBay's AI may have been programmed to check when scanning listings or responding to reports.

I agree with tobiasd4 that it would be unwise to disregard further removal of listings. Sooner or later you are liable to able to trigger a limit and warn you of possible restriction from on selling if this continues.

Re: False Policy Strikes

Yes, they most certainly are random. One moment it will be a Polish plate that I listed 4 months ago, the next moment it will be an Indonesian plate that I listed yesterday.

There is quite literally no correlation.

As for the expiry - it's a general eBay rule that all number plates must be 3 years expired, regardless of  country or type, which all my listings adhere to.

I contacted eBay support an hour ago, they advised that their new AI rollout has gone rogue and has no real reasoning when handing out policy violations (which is quite concerning!)

Re: False Policy Strikes

Thanks for the update.

I wonder how eBay will announces any problems with the rollout of their AI. I imagine that the term "gone rogue" is unlikely to feature!
