FEEDBACK PERCENTAGE REVISION AFTER ONE YEAR

I have been an eBay member for over 18 years.

One thing that really bugs me is feedback, especially negative feedback

It's bad enough receiving it (especially when undeserved), but, what really gets me is getting rid of it.

I understand it is supposed to drop off after one year,

BUT,

you cant check the date because the exact dates are not available for past feedbacks; Why not?

Why can't the software retain the purchase/sale detailsfor at least one year?

Also, I've had one negative in the last 12 months,  44 positives (I find that although I leave feedback for every sale & purchase, very few people, especially buyers, bother).

So 44 divided by 45 as a percentage is 97.77; therefore, why do eBay caculate it at 97.1?

TIA

Probably because, in the great scheme of things, it doesn't really matter and the site is big and sprawling enough as it is.  Even if you can pinpoint the date of a negative feedback received, it doesn't change anything.  It is true that buyers appear to be leaving feedback less often though.

I couldn't tell you why eBay are a slight bit of a percentage out there.

First of all only leave feedback for buyers once they leave for you. Leaving first does not prevent a negative, and you cannot change your fb then. It is possible to leave automatic feedback as soon as you receive positive.

Negative  Feedback I think falls off after about 13 months. Rather than if given on the 13th December, it is removed the following December 13th but on the 31st or January 1 st.

Purchase record goes back 7 years, sales record , sales at least the last year, see below.

Cannot explain why ebay’s maths is incorrect, just proves that allowing machines to take over is not a good idea.

@comrog you can always see the exact date a feedback was left for you by clicking on Reply. In the reply box that comes up, it shows the date the feedback was left. This works even for older feedback.

The reason your feedback percentage is 97.1 is because, of those 44, several were multiples left in the same week by the same seller or buyer. These only count as 1. So your current percentage is calculated on 34, not 44.

Thank you; I think you're partly right saying it doesn'treally matter, but, when you know the one & only negative you have is about to expire, it would be beneficial to easily keep an eye on it to make sure it expires on time.

Thank you; Interesting, how are you getting to the 'STATUS' page displayed above?

Thank you; I can't use the 'Reply' option as suggested because I've already used it.

I still consider the effect of feedback is harsh; in my case I have 755 items sold with just 1 negative.

Therefore, we should be able to assume 753 (1 neutral) were positive, i.e. the percentage would then be 99.7

This would be far more fairer to sellers.

Why should it matter if the feedbacks are from the same person?

Where do you get the info on multiples?

Surely, they should relate to each individual sale or purchase.

It's always been that way. Info is in the FAQ here: Leaving feedback for sellers | eBay

"How does feedback work if I buy multiple items from the same seller?

You should leave feedback for each sale. As for your own feedback score, keep in mind that we calculate this differently depending on whether the sales occurred in the same week. For feedback purposes, we define a week as Monday through Sunday, Pacific Time.

If the sales occurred in different weeks, each rating can affect a feedback score by 1 point. A positive rating raises a feedback score by 1 point. A negative rating lowers a seller’s feedback score by 1 point.

If the sales occurred in the same week we raise your feedback score by a total of 1 point, regardless of the number of positive ratings you received from the seller within the week."

If you click on the i in a circle next to your percentage on your feedback profile it shows your personal calculation.
