Congrtulations, well done! We don't know the full circumstances, but it sounds as though either you are very lucky or eBay has changed its policy since simple delivery. Or perhaps getting eBay to ring you instead of just using the procedure they provide may get a better result!
The advice we give is based on other buyers' experience and eBay's stated policy - which was explicit that if the seller provides a tracking number that records delivery, eBay will treat the item as successfully delivered. Many buyers lost their items and their money due to doorstep theft of parcels. Thanks for letting us know, anyway.
