Ebay lost my watchers

I sold a 'collection only' item.  2 hours later the buyer cancelled and eBay relisted the item.

Prior to sale I had over 20 views and 14 watchers.

When relisted those existing views and watchers disappeared and I had to start again.

Why isn't a relisted item linked to the previous history?

The watchers will know rhe item has been relisted.
