Hi all, I missed a return window for a faulty item. I am well within the consumer rights return time frame, which makes no arbitrary timing in which I have to return the item.
I have contacted customer support who seem completely oblivious to the consumer rights act of 2015, as well as ebay seemingly removed any way of directly contacting them. Although Ebay themselves are not the seller their system is blocking the rightful return of a faulty item.
the actual value is not the point, the point is that as the shop window and system in which returns and refunds are completed on Ebay should abide by the UK distance selling law and consumer rights. The .co.uk is registered in the UK as is the seller of the item. I have emailed the legal council of Ebay alongside the consumer rights council. Amazon try this tact as well but at least they allow a refund when faced with the law.
Anyone else had this issue?

I am afraid you don't understand Ebay's role in the transaction or how the money back guarantee operates.
Ebay don't have any relationship with you that comes under a Consumer Rights Act, that is the person who sold you the goods, who is also not 'Ebay's' seller.
The money back guarantee is provided by Ebay as a form of buyer protection which is in addition to your statutory rights, which you still have.
If you failed to use the money back guarantee or were out of time to use it, Ebay do not need to get involved in any issues you have dealing direct with the seller.
It is the seller you need to pursue.
By contrast Amazon sell things, they are bound by consumer law.

According to the Consumer Rights Act, you have 14 days to return an online purchase for any reason (this only applies to business sellers) and 30 days to return a faulty item.
Ebay has a 30 day returns window.
As you don't buy anything from Ebay, after 30 days you have to deal with the seller in order to enforce your consumer rights - summary here:
