In the past month I’ve sold 4x presale items which were released today (Taylor Swift albums). The albums were clearly listed as presale in the title with the release date and the buyers were happy with me of course posting once the items were released to me. The album came out today but unfortunately is not with me yet. I sold 4 of these yet in the past week eBay has refunded the buyer on the postage they’ve paid - without them asking. The cost of the item itself has not been refunded, but I’m confused as to why they have been refunded on the postage when I will of course be sending the albums out in the next week once they are with me, and my buyers understand this.
Will I still be able to use the Simple Delivery as planned?
Or are eBay planning to deduct the postage from what I’ve made on this listing?
Does anyone have any idea how this works?
Best Wishes
Jamie

Buyers get an automatic refund for unused special delivery labels that they have paid for after about 30 days.
Special delivery labels expire after 7 days. You will have to pay the postage yourself.

Just a note to the OP if you are taking orders for pre-sale items it would infer you are a business, eg buying to sell. so you may want to review your current account status and upgrade from a private one to a business account.

As advised, with Simple Delivery the buyer pays Ebay for the label and the money does not form part of the sale or go through your Ebay account.
If the seller doesn't use the label within 30 days, Ebay automatically refunds the postage to the buyer - they don't need to ask for a refund, it is paid without being requested.
This should not be an issue because only business sellers should buy items to sell as pre-orders and business sellers don't use Simple Delivery.
For buyers who have been refunded, you will have to pay for the postage, either by buying direct from the carrier or by buying through Ebay.
