Duty

I paid £750 for a bumper and paid £138 postage as it was coming from Poland . The listing said pay for it then they will pack it and post to my address. A few days went by and I heard nothing so I looked up the tracking and a firm called something Customs said it was held in customs waiting for duty to be paid . I rang the number thinking it was uk customs but it was a forwarding company and this polish lady said they had the bumper in there warehouse and they would forward it to me if I paid £280 duty . So I paid this so called duty and I’ve heard nothing , it should have arrived a few days ago. I wouldn’t have mind pay the £280 if the listing told me duty or other costs would need to be paid but it didn’t . Is this normal? Should I of paid it ? And what do I do now ? Thanks for any advice.

Duty

Who did you pay this DUTY to and how did you pay?

Apart from the fact that £280 seems a lot of duty to pay, duty would usually be collected by whoever was delivering, in the UK.

What was estimated delivery date as once past that date you should open a not received case to get a refund of cost plus postage, but as far as the £280 is concerned, I think you have been conned.
