Custom/Stupid Delivery

After all the rantings and railings of the past few months I thought Ebay and I had reached the point where I need not find an alternative outlet.  All my items qualify for Custom Delivery so in the last few weeks the selling process has been quite smooth and sales have improved marginally (i.e. I have actually sold a few items).

Yesterday a buyer in the USA won an auction for one of my items.   Oh joy - I haven't sold to USA since February although prior to that USA provided quite a good market!  The order details showed, inter alia, the purchase price and (as per Postage Policy detailed on the listing) postage costs as per Royal Mail International Standard.  So I packed it up ready for posting.  However, when I tried to print a label the only option available was UPS at £17.99 - FOR A 39g SMALL LETTER  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I took it to a Post Office and posted it.

Two questions - why were my business policy and the buyer's wishes overriden, and if this is the base of the UPS tariff, why on Earth does anyone use them for anything?

Custom/Stupid Delivery

Like you I avoid SD (it is not simple), but I do not know which of your items you are referring to, but the stamps sold on the 6th quote postage to the US. about what I would expect, so I do not know how ebay came up with that daft price.

As you have done, ignore and use common sense, something lacking from so many things ebay force on sellers.

By the way to avoid getting into the problems with tariffs, I no longer post to the US. Going to the PO to ensure postage and tariff is correct, or collection is not practical.
