Counterfeit Coin

I purchase a lot of Pre-Decimal UK Coins on eBay and diligently check them after delivery, however a Coin I purchased in August 2025 which seemed to be genuine has recently been identified as 'Counterfeit'. I have tried to contact the Seller but have not received any response. The eBay policy on 'Counterfeit' items does allow me to make a 'Return Request' (and retain the coin initially) even though it is outside the 30 days since purchase.

This process does require; a) The seller to reply to any communication, and b) eBay to have an answer to how I should proceed.   Neither of these exist !!!!!   Any advice would be helpful.

Re: Counterfeit Coin

You cannot proceed with any action from eBay as you have well exceeded their 30 day MBG  Money Back Guarantee policy, whereby opening a claim for item not as described within 30 days, you were guaranteed a full refund.

Try your payment provider you may be in time to claim with them,  for your refund.

Please do read eBay's 30 day MBG it's written on every listing,  and I've added it for you in the link below,  as it can save you a lot of time and money when buying on eBay.

It is actually illegal to sell counterfeit items and though I doubt that unless the amount was huge the police would do anything there is a possibility that if the seller was a trader then Trading Standards might.
