Buyer protection fees

I sent this message to a seller I have used several times without issue:-

Hello, I wanted to buy a couple of sets of the heavy strings but see I am being charged twice for so called buyer protection which adds £1.84 to the price. This seems ridiculous for low price items where I have purchased previously without any problems. I already have buyer protection through Paypal. I will be delaying my purchase until Ebay makes some changes due to pressure from sellers such as yourself as I am sure this will affect your trade.

The strings cost £5 a set, so this ia almost a 20% increase- Ebay needs to stop penalising private sellers and use some intelligence in applying these fees.

I am making some assumptions here, but ...

If you are buying new items from a seller, and you have used them several times, and they still have multiples of the same item left, then they should properly be registered as a business seller.

If you buy from a properly registered business seller, then there is no buyer protection fee.

The best seller could do would be to make a listing just for you of two items, but there would still be the fee of 75p + 4% added.

Do you actually know how paypal’s guarantee works. I think you will  find that if returning for not as described you pay postage and that there are no change of mind returns. Obviously not received cases are similar to ebay.

It is annoying that ebay’s claimed money back guarantee is not new, just needs to be paid for now.
