Buyer protection? Then why hide it in the price?

Yesterday out of curiosity I added an item from a private seller to the cart. I headed to check out. NO mention of buyer protection fee.

I just made a couple of sales and the email states how much of it is buyer protection fees.

I thought it was against the law to hide fees in prices? I was under the assumption they need to be clearly stated. Is eBay crossing the line here?

Consumer Rights Act 2015

Hidden Fees and Misleading Pricing:
Businesses must not use surcharges or hidden fees.
The Consumer Protection Act 1987 makes it a criminal offence to give consumers a misleading price indication.

Also, I still think 75p should not automatically be applied for items under £10. It should be optional. Buyer can opt in or out.

The Buyer Protection Fee is shown to a buyer at eBay checkout.

It's all a new process, and has had some changes already, so perhaps that fee may be shown at some later date on original listings.

Powers that be seem to be tweaking things on this new Buyer Protection Fee before it's properly rolled out on all categories seemingly by the end of this month .

They didn't show yesterday and it's still not showing today.

Again an item from a private seller in my cart and nothing. And it's clearly added looking at the weird price.

It was in this one. It says VAT on Buyer protection fee is based on buyer location.

Same item I then received an offer later on. Reviewing the offer the exact amount I would have to pay for the Buyer Protection Fee was listed.  I thought cool, they finally changed it.

Got to check out and again no sign of it.

I was curious what the order page would tell me and surprise there they mention it again. But who looks at it?

It is vital they inform buyers what fees they are charged extra and what it is for. Because atm it just looks like all private sellers have increased the prices and no sod knows why.

My sales have dropped by about 60% and it's not just me (and I am still cheaper than most). This will have an impact on business seller too. Because if we don't get any traffic and makes sales neither will businesses.
