Bidding

This is a general question about bidding. I have read the help section but still don’t understand it.
I made a bid for £28.00 an item listed at £23.00. I was the highest bidder for a minute. It says I was outbid.
In the item listing I was the only bidder.
I increased my bid to £30.00.
Again I was the highest bidder for about a minute.
I am still the only bidder.
I understand that automatic bidding may be involved but the bid history still says I have only bid £23 for 3 times!
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Bidding

It doesn't look as if you were outbid, eBay messages sometimes are not very clear,  you may have seen something like .... bid again so as Not to be outbid....  or similar.

If you have upped your bid,  and it's still showing as initial bid price of £23,  this means there have been no other bids and you will not be outbid now,  until someone places a bid higher than £30.

Re: Bidding

Thank you very much for your reply. I normally only do ‘buy it now’ and was quite puzzled with the bidding. You’ve given me the confidence to do more bidding now that you’ve explained it for me.
Thank you.

Re: Bidding

You're very welcome.

One more tip when bidding.

Most bids can come in the last few seconds of an auction ,  worth watching then,  an auction to its very end trying to outbid the highest bid in those dying seconds!
