Hi, I need to ask if a buyer will receive my name and address as part of their confirmation email. I am a private seller and have probably sold less than £500 worth of items in the last year but in my overall sales over four years it is probably closer to £2,000. I have recently been made aware that when buyers receive a confirmation email it includes both my name and home address. This is very serious to me as I have a very abusive ex partner who has made attempts to find me before and I have done everything I can to keep myself secure online and wouldn't have started selling if I knew this. Is this correct? If yes, is this not a breach of data protection? Thank you for your help.

As private seller you have to use Simple delivery, So label will have your return address on.
Even before SD, it was always a good idea to put return address on parcel.

Thank you, I understand about that part but I need to know if my home address is sent to the buyer in their confirmation email. I have seen people saying it does and people saying it doesn't.

The email they get before I even do the delivery label that confirms their purchase

I have checked recent purchases, only those from business sellers show their name and address. Private sellers only show the ebay username.

Thank you so much both for being so quick and thorough and putting my mind at rest. I appreciate your advice 🙂

@loulouswardrobe no, I've just looked at my previous confirmation emails for purchases and the only times they contain more than just the seller's ebay username is when the seller has a business account on ebay.
Beat me to it while I was checking @papso22
