For the past 2 years, almost everyday/every other day, I received a sale to the EU. It accounts for around 30% of my total sales. My last sale to the EU was on 30/6/2021. The longest previous wait for an EU sale was 5 days, last July. Appreciate there are a few factors. 1/ My business has some element of seasonality, Winter months increased numbers of people purchase computer games, now is the height of Summer. 2/ Lockdown is ending across Europe, people want to go outside. 3/ Possible anti-UK sentiment due to recent political events. 4/ New EU VAT rules introduced on 1/7/2021 making prices less competitive. Even factoring those in, 22 days is a stretch. Points 1 + 2 would expect sales still, point 3 is probably not even a factor, point 4 - 20% VAT on some cheap games is not a lot, on the flip-side, some items are rarer so cannot be purchased easily, if somebody wants something, 20% will not deter them... This is all circumstantial and may be coincidental, but as the days go by, this also seems unlikely. eBay representatives have said that the VAT rules should have no impact on customer's ability to see my items in searches. In which case, I am at a loss (quite literally). Has anyone else had such a dramtic drop-off in EU sales from the UK? Has it now abated? Were there any actions you took that yielded results? Many thanks in advance.
