how to leave negative feedback

Hi All,

hope you can help me.

I have recently had a clear out and sold some stuff on Ebay.

1 item sold ; but the winning buyer contacted me requesting to cancel purchase as he had got the same item cheaper. no apologies , just expectation. As I am an infrequent ebayer,  I said I would just check that I wouldn't incur any charges for cancelling and relisting; which resulted in an mildly abusive email "saying any decent person would just cancel sale".  As a result, I told him I would let the resolution centre deal with it , as this was not an acceptable response. This resulted in him calling me a loser!

I have been through the resolution centre and can now relist my item;  But when I tried to leave feedback the only options are 'positive' or 'report buyer'.  I have checked this buyer's profile and it is showing 100% positive,  despite failing to pay and going through the resolution centre.

I have reported him verbally to Ebay, and have blocked him from my account as advised; but feel frustrated that there are no warning flags to potential sellers about this buyer.

This cannot be right !

Frustratedly yours

Dawn

Unpaid strikes are the best way of dealing with this sort of buyer and NO feedback can be left. Reporting to ebay appears to do nothing, bad buyers get away with murder, so adding to Blocked Bidders List helps. Cancelling a sale just lets them off the hook to wreck other auctions.

For reference to cancel a sale, the buyer, using More Actions should send you a request to cancel, you can then cancel using the reason "Buyer's Request". That gets the selling fee refunded. Any extras such as reserve fees are not refunded. Choosing the wrong reason for cancelling and you do not get te selling fee refunded.

The only time you pay a fee is if they pay, then when a refund is made the Paypal fee is not refunded.

The option to leave neg or neutral was removed 13 years ago because some sellers were abusing the system and using it to bully and threaten buyers.

Use the tools ebay provide (which does not include leaving any FB) - unpaid item case, add to BBL and set buyer requirement blocks to block anyone with 2+ strikes in last 12 months.

Never be tempted to leave false positive FB for a buyer, it is a policy violation and will damage your account if it is picked up by ebay. It doesn't help you and it doesn't help other sellers. The strike from an unpaid item case does far more damage to the non-payer's account than a few silly words on their FB profile.

the option for sellers to leave negative feedback was removed 13 years ago!!

ebay removed the option for sellers and introduced non payment strikes instead,

these work really well if sellers do it properly,

when you have a non payer you need to complete a non payment case to get your final value fees refunded and give them a non payment strike

then add the non payers ID to your blocked list

then set you bidder requirements to block bidders with two or more non payment strikes in the last 12 months
