Why do i have to accepted ebay 'Managed' payments yet i'm paying other private sellers via Paypal?

It's a question i'm struggling with. I prefer the Paypal option even that it's slightly more expensive yet it doesn't seem to be an option for me. I'm still buying from other private sellers and paying via Paypal though and thats a little annoying/confusing.

To be honest i can see your point of view.

As a seller if you refuse to sign up to managed payments........Ebay will stop you from selling on the site 😞

In an ideal world i think we should have been given the option.............but at the end of the day this is Ebays Playground and we play how they want us to or we go elsewhere.

I get that buddy, you want to sell, these are the rules. I just don't understand the lack of parity and i'm not have a good old moan and having a pop, just looking for a reasonable explanation that will help me understand why i can't accept Paypal but others can!

Buyers can still pay via paypal, but we now pay ebay, not seller direct, they then deduct fees & pay into seller's bank.

everyone can PAY using paypal, it doesn't matter whether the seller is on managed payments or not, if the seller is on managed payments the buyers paypal payment is collected by Adyen, processed, then passed to the seller.

Thank you pixiesen2012, that makes sense although Paypal are still involved in the process and i thought 'managed payments' was not optional beyond April this year when it seemed to become mandatory. Is this just on eBay UK or all territories?

there are still sellers who haven't moved over and ebay are putting restrictions on what they can do with their accounts, so if they want to continue to sell they will have to move over or close their accounts,
