Warranty on new item

Hi, I bought a metal detector in January off a seller who described it as brand new, it was and has been fine untill yesterday when it completly packed in, it is under warranty in Germany and he will take no responsibility with arranging a replacement or dealing with the warranty in any way.

My questioin is 'is this reasonable?' Does he have any duty toward me given the failure of the product in just over 8 weeks?

Thanks guys.

Ebay and paypal money back guarantees are for items that are not as described when they arrive

and not a warranty.

Any warranty is between you and the seller and very hard to enforce.

If they are business in the UK then contact Citizens Advice for their help.

If overseas or a private seller then there is nothing you can do.

If they are in Germany then there is nothing you can do.

If you want a warranty then you really need to buy off a shop in the Uk

See the bottom of the page on the link where it says

Ebay Money Back Guarantee is not a product  warranty
