I would like to highlight that EBAY states that since we have left Paypal and gone direct with EBAY for payments, we are saving money compared to before. I believe this is totally wrong for people who are selling low value items between the amounts of £1.29 - £1.99 - £2.99. Here is an representative example
Paypal Micropayment transaction fees - 5% + 0.05 per order + 12% EBAY final value fees
Sale of item = £1.49
Paypal fee = 5% (£0.075) + £0.05 = £0.125
EBAY fee = 12% = £0.1788
Total = £0.1788 + £0.125 = £0.30
EBAY Payment transaction and final value fees 12.8% + £0.30 per order
Sale of item = £1.49
EBAY fee = 12.8% = £0.19
Per order fee = £0.30
Total = £0.19 + £0.30= £0.49
Difference is £0.19 extra we are paying to EBAY directly and EBAY is misleading us to state that we are saving money, which is totally inaccurate. Also, in the circumstance if the buyer cancels their order without reason, returns, disputes and asks for a refund. In all circumstances, EBAY will not return the £0.30 per order fee, which is cunning of EBAY and makes the seller lose money for even the buyers mistake. The sum of £0.19 sounds smalls but add ups when you are dealing with hundreds and thousands of transactions. We should complain against this together and make EBAY change the rules back to how they were especially when we do not have the option anymore to use Paypal because EBAY has made the decision to not work with them anymore.
If you agree - Please comment and lets make this complaint together as EBAY is being unfair to all us sellers who are dealing with micropayments and low value items
registered business sellers have been offered a similar scheme to paypals micro payments,
As a rule private sellers are better off by 0.1% under MP.
But ebay do not use micro payments, so you can ended up paying more.
Looking at the number of listings you have, ebay would consider you a business seller.
What is unfair and illegal is you running a business on a private account denying buyers their consumer rights,you should register as a business seller.
If you were registered correctly you would be able to use the eBay version of micropayments.
