The email arrives in my gmail inbox having a 'trust key sign' from gmail as being a genuine email send by eBay email server. So it is genuine.

Clearly after getting this email I go on a new tab, without clicking on any link and I try to log in my ebay acount. Account is locked.

I forward the headers from the original email to eBay at spoof@ebay.com for verification and a stupid standard email comes back almost instantly with a text that pretty much

"Thanks for forwarding the information in this message to spoof@ebay.com.
We take reports like this seriously and appreciate this kind of feedback
from you. Most likely, the message you received was not sent to you by
eBay."

You can send anything to that email address, nothing diffrent ever comes back.

If that email is a fake email how come my ebay account is locked?!

Can't get a reply from them, nobody cares, I'm just locked out of my account every other week or so ...

I'm angry. I have spoke to someone in tech support over the phone, they kind of have indentified a A GLITCH IN THE SYSTEM that locks down my account every now and then? **bleep** would that supposed to mean? that the email they assume that is fake is actually genuine?! They have also confirmed that my account has not been used fraudulently and/or accesed by a 3rd party....
