Strange buy

Hi and thank you for help in advance.

I found two items for sale that I wanted and both items were sold by the same seller.

I’ve contacted the seller and asked if he/she is willing to give me a discount if I buy both items and save on postage as it was sold as separate items. Seller agreed and told me to buy and not pay until he/she send me an invoice. The only option for me to buy and not to pay now was cash on collection, which I did and now seller cannot send me an invoice and I cannot go to collect? What options do we have please, through pay-pal or not sure, what is a safest way for me after I pay so I’m covered for items delivery?

That is correct if you chose a method of payment before the seller had a chance to send you that revised invoice,  they cannot send another to you now.

The only option is for the seller to now send you a partial refund on the money paid.

If the system is not allowing you to proceed through paypal checkout to pay, now that you have selected cash on collection,    the seller will need to issue you a cancellation request ,  you accept this,    they relist the items perhaps then easier to list them  together under one listing with one postage price to pay.

Thank you for your help. Seller doesn’t want to cancel as the items were sold under eBay seller offer for final fee. Is there a way to send an invoice through Pay-Pal that guaranty delivery of the items? I really want to help this seller to sell and me to buy but obviously we were both in wrong as we did not best option here.

No, you cannot pay now through Paypal as there would still be the open case of a non payment with eBay, and the seller may well have an automated response to non payments opening unpaid item cases after 4 days. Have you tried to pay through Paypal checkout now? Is it preventing you because you selected cash on collection?

Seller said he would mark as payment sent, but obviously now transaction would not be made with eBay protection for my side only PayA

Only PayPal protection if there is such thing as buying goods from someone without using third party secure site?
