Seller won't return item

Hi, in dec 2020 I bought a car stereo from a company. In May It went faulty so I asked them to either replace, repaired or refund me. They sent me a return address which was in Germany and it cost me about £20 to send. Then about a week later when I asked how it was going they said oops we gave you wrong address.  When you get it sent back to you can you send to new address in Manchester.  I told them not good enough and for them to send me prepaid parcel sticker cos I aint paying again. They agreed to do this. I have checked on where my parcel is and found from parcelforce its still sitting at their collection point in Germany waiting to be picked up!!! I have told seller this but they are making no attempt to collect and send back to me.

EBay provides a 30 day money back guarantee for most items sold here, but after that they will have no further interest. PayPal buyer protection lasts for 180 days, but only covers faults present on delivery. Neither will get involved in warranties or faults that occur in use.

Any responsibility now rests with the seller. If they're a UK business seller you may have some statutory consumer rights, but enforcing them for items bought on eBay can be difficult or impossible. Even manufacturers' warranties are liable to be invalid for items bought here.

You can consult trading standards or citizens advice, or consider using the small claims court or the Courts and Tribunals internet-based money claim service: https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome. If the seller is abroad, there's unlikely to be anything you can do.

This is a reminder that with no certainty of after-sales service and warranties that often prove valueless, buying from unknown sellers on eBay is not like the shops.
