Return

Hi. Bought an item for £14.99 but £17.99 was deducted from my account.  Item arrived but was an obvious fake and different from the one listed.  Seller claimed ebay added vat hence the difference in the price????  Stated would only refund 14.99.  My account shows he was paid the full amount of 17.99.  Claimed to send return label but only send address.  Can't forward for eBay to step in and help as that option is not available on return status.  Today I should have been able to refer it and I can't see an option to email ebay for help.  This is a trader not an individual seller.

My account shows he was paid the full amount of 17.99.

No, it doesn't. It shows that eBay was paid the full amount.

EBay is now collecting VAT on behalf of HMRC for certain sales. When you request a refund the correct way, through eBay's resolution centre, you will receive the full amount paid.

It's all explained here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/paying-items/paying-tax-ebay-purchases?id=4771&st=12&pos=3&query=...

The option to escalate appears 3 exact days, to the minute, after you opened a case, so look again tomorrow.

You will get a full refund of what you paid.
