eBay states buyer has paid 2 days ago but money isn't in my bank or PayPal ...don't want to post item until I have recieved payment

You are on eBay's Managed Payment system ,  and payments are not as instant as when paid into Paypal.  Weekends prolong the process a little too,  being non working business days.

This is what happens now under eBay's MP.   eBay then first take their fees from money received from a sale, and send the remainder to your nominated bank account. This takes 1 - 2 business working days.

Your bank then takes 1 - 4 business working days to process those funds, before they become available for you to withdraw.

So am I ok to hold onto my item until payment clears or do I post it now before o have the payment ?

If you have received an eBay message to say the buyer has paid and given you a name and address to post the item, and instructed you to post now, you must post the item asap.
