Cash on inspection/collection is the safest and best payment method for Vehicles/collection items ... or ... (confirmed/deposited Bank Transfer) after they have seen and examined the bike, agreed the purchase and taken it away ... so with Cash in hand, no risk of Chargebacks, No payment holds or later claims of not received/not as described etc.

The payment hold only applies to items paid for through eBay checkout. If you're selling a motor vehicle it would be highly unsafe to accept payment this way, and eBay does not require you to do so.

There is no buyer or seller protection for motor vehicles sold on eBay, however the buyer pays. There is an easy and well known scam by which the buyer could pay by PayPal, and subsequently engineer a chargeback. This scam has even been reported in the national press.

You would have no protection against this, and the vehicle would not be returned to you. It may well be out of the country or broken up for spares before you even know what's happened. The same could almost certainly happen if the buyer paid by any other way through eBay checkout.

The only method of payment that is safe for both the buyer and the seller is by payment in case after inspection.
