Item was severely delayed, arrived too late.

Hello 

I bought a DVD from a US seller, I live in the UK. The item got severely delayed in transit and arrived much too late. I no longer need the item. 

I contacted the seller about returning the item for a refund, but he's insisted that he'll only refund the cost of the DVD, and I'll have to cover the cost of the shipping, including the return shipping. This doesn't seem fair. Is there anything I can do?

I have been trying to find a contact number for Ebay all day to get advice on this, but Ebay don't seem to have any customer service contact number at the moment. 

Any advice greatly appreciated.

You open a return request and if the seller has REturns accepted on their listing then you can return

For a return you are responsible for the return postage.

how late was it.

If it was at least one day after the latest estimated day of delivery in the listing you could have opened a not received disptue and received a refund after a full 3 days

That is what you could have done

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes the item was more than a day over the estimated date of delivery. Can I still open a not received dispute? Thanks in advance.

No you said you have recieved it now so all you can do it so open a return request. When buying overseas you have to expect delays. Depending on what it was tems can get held up in customs.You can open a dispute on day after the latest estimated day of delivery but to be fair to a seller you should give it a couple of days and then after another 3full days on the fourth day you can escalate and get your money back but non of this applies now as you have the item

Okay thanks for the information. I don't mind paying for the return postage, but the DVD cost $27 (including $12 postage). The seller is only going to refund me $13. This seems very unfair.

If you do the return request through ebay then the seller has to refund all the original payment
