Hello,
I purchased a tent and found out quickly that it was faulty. I sent the item back to the seller but the seller only wanted to give me a partial refund. I asked eBay to step in on the 18th of July. I have spoken to multiple agents who are giving out different answers. The first agent I spoke to said the case would be reviewed in 12-48 hours and the case would be closed in my favour due to me sending the item back. Fast forward to the 22nd of July, another agent advised that the case had been closed in my favour and that I would receive a refund within 48 hours. Today I have spoken to another agent who has advised that the case was closed this morning and I will need to wait another 3-5 days for a refund due to it being a high-value item. I just wondered why have I been told different things and is this the norm? The case is still open on my end so I'm unsure if what the agent saying is true? Can anyone advise, please? Many thanks
Refunds return to the source of the payment.
Refunds to your PayPal account usually take 3 to 5 business days to go through.
Have you looked directly in your PayPal account? You should see some sign of a refund there. Has the Paid symbol changed to Refund? Does the transaction say ‘Pending’? Either would indicate that a refund is on the way.
If you paid by debit card then refunds can take 7 days to show in your card account.
Refunds to payment by credit card can take 30 days to show in that card account.
anecdotal evidence is that CS Agents tend to tell you what they think you want to hear, and also read from a preprinted "crib" sheet and give you the nearest answer they can find to answer your issue.
