Does anyone reallize that Ebay owns Gumtree and they are still allowing pets for sale!!

Gumtree allows pets to be sold and they have a very good policy covering such sales,I don't see a problem

Hello, I just me a chap who showed me a photo of his staffie puppy and told me he purchased it off of Gumtree. He went all the way to Birmingham to some house only to be led into a room. He was then presented with this puppy, swollen belly and fur missing on top of his back. Also told the puppy was 11 weeks old. Never saw the parents as they were most probably not on the premises. Guy that sold it to him appeared to be on drugs or something. Puppy had worms and was certainly less then 8 weeks old when he went to see his vet. He also paid a staggering £2000!!!. I read in the papers how bad this puppy trade has become since the Pandemic. Very very sad to see. I wish Gumtree/Ebay would investigate and check people selling on this site.

Why on earth did he pay that much for a puppy rather than report it to the RSPCA?

Are you aware of what is going on in the pet trade since the pandemic? Surely you must read the papers. There are people exploiting the situation and charging exorbanant prices for puppies. The puppy mills/farms are thriving. These criminals are taking advantage and charging people two or three times the usual price. The dogs are kept in terrible conditions and usually in a very very bad state. The RSPCA will only look at a case if you provide lots of photos and lots of information/documentation regarding the situation. Unfortunately it is not all that easy or straight forward. All of the internet sites selling dogs should be shut down. Sadly even if that is done criminals will find other ways. The officials are seeing a crazy number of dogs being stolen by criminals when they are being walked by their owners. Sometimes the owners are also attacked as their dog is stolen from them

Actually I am because I have been trying to get a rescue dog for over 6 months. No one is being forced to buy a dog and your friend has simply helped a criminal make yet more money. Stolen dogs are an entirely different issue.

Hello He is not a friend. I agree with you and I did say to him that you
are not helping the situation by buying a dog off of the internet and
paying such a high price. I have owned Dogs my entire life and I have a
rescue. I agree with you that is the route to go. Battersea Dogs and Cats

Yes I think most of us on here know that ebay owns Gumtree.

I have seen pets for sale on there but did not realise it was against the law or gumtrees policy
