GSP postage to Brazil and import duty

I have a prospective buyer in Brazil who wants to buy a 7 inch single record for £3.00. E- bay's GSP  has informed the buyer that postage from the UK would be £35.02 and the import duty would be £39.00.  Can these figures be correct? they seem to be extreamely high for a £3.00 item. Copies  of these figures from Ebay have been provided.

If you use GSP then you are stuck and the buyer is stuck with whatever they invoice.

Why can't you deal direct, I am sure that your postage charge woud be many times less than GSP and then that just leaves the buyer to pay whatever Import Duty/Tax his Country's Tax Authoriies require.

While I have no idea what GSP would charge for postage it does include everything, postage tracking and taxes. If £35.02 is correct (it soulds very excessive) then £39 includes it.

Bear in mind that whatever Taxes Brazil impose would be based on Purchase Price plus Postage.

In my opinion for Low Value Items sellers should avoid GSP like the plague. Filling in a Customs declaration is very simple and for even tracked postage to Brazil I would not expect postage to be over £15 at most.

Sounds about right for the Global Shipping Programme. Is very expensive. You could opt out and Relist the Record using your own Carrier. Your Buyer would still be charged the Import Duties.
