Fake items

Hi, I ordered and received an item a few weeks ago that was obviously a fake.

I contacted the seller to see if I could get a refund.

It now transpires that the seller is no longer a registered user and Ebay seem to have deleted the order details.

Do I now put this down to bad luck and only buy from reputable websites in future or is there a way of getting my money back?

Any advice would be welcomed.

If you received it over 30 days ago then you will be out of time for a dispute

You dont talk to the seller you open a dispute

Open a not as described dispute at the bottom of the page under Resolution Centre.

Escalate it after a full 3 days of opening the dispute.

The seller needs to send a pre paid label for the return.

If they dont then ebay should when you escalate the dispute.

Make sure it goes back tracked and that the tracking is in the dispute.

You have 30 days from the day of delivery to open a dispute in ebay

Read up on the Ebay money back guarantee

If you paid by paypal then you may be able to open a not as described dispute there but would need to sign up for their returns postage and follow the instructions carefully. If you mention fake on paypal then they may ask for written evidence where ebay would just go with the buyer
