I bought an item of jewellery in Oct 2020 (a platinum dress ring). I have onloy worn it a handful of times but earlier in the week the mount holding the stone came off the main band. Seller has basically said tough. Any ideas on how to get a replacement or money back?
thanks
EBay provides a 30 day money back guarantee for most items sold here, but after that they will have no further interest. PayPal buyer protection lasts for 180 days, but only covers faults present on delivery. Neither will get involved in warranties or faults that occur in use.
Any responsibility now rests with the seller. If they're a UK business seller you may have some statutory consumer rights, but enforcing them for items bought on eBay can be difficult or impossible. Even manufacturers' warranties are liable to be invalid for items bought here.
You can consult trading standards or citizens advice. Personally, I doubt whether you have much hope of holding the seller responsible. However, depending upon the value of the ring and the cost of repair you can take advice on this.
unfortunately nothing you can do through eBay or PayPal.
If they were a business seller have a word with CAB.
Hi
Unfortunately there is nothing you can do through Ebay or Paypal as you purchased the ring too long ago.
If i were you i would take it to a local jeweller and ask for the cost to repair
