I have a buyer who requested to return a lego set stating the box was damaged when he received it. He has sent me photos and they show a crease in the box but not damage. The box is still intact and is not ripped/broken or open in any areas. I offered a part refund by way of resolving the issue but he then opened a case through ebay stating the item was not as described. As this is a false claim I have reported him to Ebay but the return request is still open. I have tried contacting him to suggest options to resolve the issue however I do feel I should incur return postage costs when he has clearly just changed his mind but is looking for valid reasons to justify a return under the money back guarantee. I have tried to get help from Ebay regarding this however there doesnt seem to be any help for sellers with this type of issue. Under the Ebay policies he can forfeit his right to get a refund under the Ebay money back guarantee by falsely clamining an item isnt as decribed but I am unsure to press this issue with Ebay. Any help would be gratefully received.
Curious, this is the second post in a couple of days about a creased lego box.
The simple answer is that I am afraid ebay will side with the buyer and expect you to provide a return label and give a refubd when you get the lego back. You can then report them for misusing the MBG, but are highly unlikely to get anywhere, and the only thing you mught get is that ebay refunds you the return postage cost.
If the box is creased and that wasn't mentioned in the listing (becasue it wasn't when you sent it), then the buyer has a reason to return, even if it seems unreasonable.
There is no seller protection for this type of issue, it is one of the risks/costs of selling on ebay.
