Buyer opened case for wrong seller

Hi,

I have a case  which a buyer has opened but for the wrong seller as the message in the case details states ''thermometer'' and also they've sent a clear picture with a broken thermometer, they have bought bin liners from us originally , I have sent the buyer a message with no response and also I've contacted ebay and they've said that they cannot close the case only after 3 days , they said they know the buyer is at fault, but it baffles me that it's a clear case that the buyer has gotten it wrong but yet ebay can only wait until after 3 days to close it unless the seller closes it first ,is this correct ? I would greatly appreiate your help with this . Thank you

If it's clear that it's been opened for the wrong item, I don't know why eBay can't close it immediately in your favour. After all, they often close cases within minutes when found in the buyer's favour.

That said, it's eBay's site and they will do whatever suits them. I take it that you have formally responded to the case, and not simply phoned them? Whatever you do, be careful to follow the case procedure to the letter, through the resolution centre.

Ridiculous as it sounds, it would surprise none of us here if eBay found in the buyer's favour simply because you didn't respond within the time limit of three working days. If this happened, the refund would be automatic and you probably wouldn't even have a right of appeal.
