Bought Item now have Import Tax to pay

Hi I bought a bike from Italy checked with eBay helpline to see if I would have to pay import duty, they said no unless the seller had put it on the ad it was included within the price, bought item back in January 2021, bike arrived quickly no probs enjoy using it. However, now have received a bill for £621.31 import tax from Fed Ex contacted ebay help they confirm I was given the advice but it was wrong they have transcripts of my conversation with their advisor, Tried to raise a case against the seller as they would be responsible but there is no where on the resolution center to do this and ?out of time now. Is there any way I can get reimbursed from Seller or eBay as I wouldn't have bought the bike if eBay hadnt given that advice that any import tax was in fact included in the price. Any help. Thanks.

And what makes you think the seller is responsible?

It is nothing to do with ebay.

You imported an item to the UK and the charges are customs charges and delivery charges from Fed Ex.

It is up to the buyer to know what their import laws are

You can see the details on the HMRC on Gov.UK

I am surprised you received the bike as usually you get the bill first and no delivery if you dont pay.

If you dont pay customs at that time then you invalidate your ebay money back guarantee
