07873077777 - Is this untrustworthy looking number eBay?

I was asked to confirm my identity by ebay and the text came in from this number.  It looks majorly sketchy, since eBay used to send a text with the name/header "Verify".

I would ideally have liked to speak to someone at eBay to get a confirmation that this is their number.

Has anyone else run into this?

I did and it says scam, but i also asked a friend to login to his account and do a password reset and he got a text from the same number.

So what i want to know is it an official ebay number or has ebay been hacked?

Ebay has not been hacked, no idea if real as they never give out any phone numbers. I assume text had code for you to verify on ebay, put into ebay & see.

Yes, it was a verfication code for 2FA. My guess is its a messaging service used by multiple companies. A google showed up a few sites with people saying they received texts from snapchat, twitter, steam and other services from that number. I sent an email to spoof@ebay.co.uk asking for confirmation, nevertheless. I really dont understand why they dont have a number that comes up with ebay, like the NHS and pretty much every major company in the UK uses.

spoof@ebay.co.uk. This is for sending suspect emails to, you won't get a reply. If you asked for 2FA & received text, why do think it is a scam?

 I occasionaly have to verify ebay & receive text code, I just put it to ebay as requested, nothing suspect about it.
