the wind is getting up here now, and I've just discovered a "wwhhoooooo" noise coming from our front window....we had it once before in a house we lived in, it took us a year to find itat least this time I know where it's coming from....it's the flashing on the top of the window!!!!
Don't ya just love external house DIY!!!

The wind here is making noises in the chimneys!

It's windy here as well. We did have a short sharp shower earlier. The wind is coming from the southwest which, for us means a noisy night as our bedrooms at the back.

Sorry about the wind, had pickled onions for lunch

We have one of those noises here too...... On our patio. Not sure what is making it though.

No seriously its the rain that we have got here, yes its windy but the rain is really heavy, luckily we are on a hill so wont get flooded, but as for the wind we will cop it on the front of the house, hopefully we wont hear it too much with the new windows.
Sons bedroom had an annoying whoooo noise from one of his windows, the hinge had dropped so the window wasn't sealed, luckily they came and fixed it last week so thats stopped. Good job too because he is a big girls blouse where odd noises are concerned, he is 21, 6 foot 5 and a big jelly, he wont stand in the kitchen with the curtains open when its dark says its spooky.
Anyway best of luck to everyone, keep safe.

It's not too bad here at the moment in comparison to what some people have.
Hope that peeps aren't too badly affected. I agree with ed - stay safe.

Its windy but not too bad here .... the sea's really rough & coming over the wall but I don't think its expected to be bad here until early morning ..... hope none of you suffer any damage, bad winds here usually mean losing an odd roof tile ![]()

Whistles across our front porch at times, also we have tiles around the front bay windows that rattle in really windy conditions.
Seems to have stopped blowing so much for the time being but I think it's the calm before the storm, literally! Chucking it down with rain though.
Hope my o/h gets home ok later, not the night for driving a coach ![]()

Yes it was getting rather wild when I got back to depot last night from
coach driving. I opened the gates but by the time I'd got back in coach
to drive it in, gates had blown shut again so I had to get out and wedge
the bin in front of them.
There was a broom in the middle of the depot and a few small branches
from the trees at the back, but nothing worse thankfully. Hopefully it will
stay that way there, and of course for everyone.
I would actually love to go and watch the wild sea, from a safe distance
of course. Just heard on radio that a teenager was swept out to sea
in Brighton last night after people were told to stay away from the sea
and the beach close to it. A lifeboat crew member was hurt and the
lifeboat damaged whilst looking for him and, sadly, he hasn't been
found yet.

People are just stupid, Fishie - then other people risk life and limb looking for them. We were on a beach one very rough day watching the waves both from across the road and a high point. We had small children with us but weren't going any closer anyway. There were others playing "dare" with the waves not just teens but adults with small kids until the Coastguard turned up in one hell of a mood and moved them on after a lecture.

Good for him, I don't know how many times people need telling.
I love the sea but know it has to be treated with respect and
what it's capable of. The coastguards and lifeguards don't
say keep away for no reason.

Well I don't know quite where it went, but it appeared to pass us by ![]()
The forecast had the worst winds across us in the early hours, but it was pretty calm around 4am. We've had lots of rain and squally showers continuing today but nothing to get excited about.
Seems there was rather a lot of over zealous speculation in the forecasting, better to be prepared for the worst I know ![]()
Hope everyone else escaped ok x

Better safe than sorry & people have died in the south.
28-10-2013 12:10 PM
I quite agree, and I've only just seen that 2 people have sadly died as a result of the storm, very sorry to see that.
All indications were that the Bristol Channel coast would be in the firing line for the worst winds right up to the time I went to bed around 12.30. It seems the storm went further south than expected.
Again, I am very sorry for those affected by this weather x
