Weather

Thank you to the weather forecaster who said this area was going to have the best day of the weekend, with sunshine today ! So what have we got? Yet more rain and a load of washing to get dry! It hasn't even got daylight yet. Now, on the other hand if all this rain we are getting was SNOW, just think how lovely and deep and picturesque it would be.........Instead of that we have muddy, soggy fields to walk and slide about in when dog-walking. What weather are the rest of you having?

Well the weather forecasters are right as it is blowing a right gale here.  It's frightening.

I don't like this anymore,  just had to go outside and pick up a few things, I have a small mini wooden greenhouse and that one has blown over, 2 snapped branches on one of my trees, I did have 3 little ducks in my pond (I say pond it is a half barrell) now I only have 2 poor little duck I wonder where he has blown too.  To cap it all I don't know what is in the rain but my windows are filthy.  My 2 bird tables are on their side.  I should be doing the recycling in a minute, but I darn't put it out.

Awwwwwwww Ed.  That's a shame.  We have both the doors in the living closed but they keep blowing open - and obviously, they are internal doors.  I've given up closing them.  The wind here is awful at the moment.  To say it's blowing a gale, it's putting it bluntly.  It's not raining constantly but at the moment, there are only a few spots of the wet stuff.

I expect the little duck is taking shelter Ed. Don't go out trying to rescue stuff until it calms down. You might get smacked in the head by a duck! heart

Blowing a gale here too, I've given up picking my garden tubs up! Not raining at the moment but I got soaked on the way back from  walking the dogs this morning.

It isn't quite as windy now and it is only about a mile down the road to the pub, and there are only a couple of trees that could affect the road, and it is fairly sheltered on the way to where I am going, if it had been anywhere else I probably wouldn't have gone.

I had to go to a funeral today - it was truly awful. I was absolutely soaked and frozen by the time I got home. The poor vicar was having a terrible time trying to control his cassock and surplice.

Hope that the insurance company are going to be sympathetic - the local wildlife have taken advantage of the damage to the shed roof and the fence and all the tools have been stolen. Luckily nothing valuable was kept in there.

That's awful Stroppy.  I know they can be replaced but that doesn't excuse what the lowlife who did that.

The wind's terrible here at the moment.  The lights flashed on and off a few times earlier but I am lucky in comparison to a lot of people.

The West Coast mainline railway is being closed from 7 to 9 tonight.  The M6 near Warrington has been closed at Thelwall Viaduct.  Greater Manchester Fire Brigade have called in all off duty firemen due to the weather.  Hopefully, this wind will drop a lot sooner rather than later.

I live in south cumbria, edge of Lake District, winds are horrendous here now. Really scary and I am on my own as my son is on nights
Really heavy driving rain as well,
Can hear tubs etc rattling up and down the yard, but they will have to stay where they land,

Dogs won't go out , although I don't know whether I would dare let them out even. If they wanted to

We cook on electric, so son has left me his little camping stove, I'm am nit bothered about cooking food, can soon have some bread and jam etc, but cannot do without a brew

Son had about eight miles to go to get to work at tea time, it took him an hour as there was a tree down , I feel sorry for him as he is doing security on a building site, sat in a cabin till eight tomorrow morning. He took his dog with him last night, but it wouldn't go,with him tonight, it ran under my chair and wouldn't come out, it was so funny . There was no way was she going to go with him tonight ,

Hope that you are ok.  It's awful here tonight and we still have the red weather warning in place until 9pm.  The wind was bad enough at lunchtime but it's just got worse and worse since.  It's frightening.

I've just had a ridge tile blown off, so I'm scared! Dogs are scared too, youngest is behaving like she does when she hears fireworks. There's no way I can expect to sleep whilst there's this gale. Hope there's no more damage, it's given me a headache.

Aww Carol.  I hope that you have no more damage.  I don't think that we have had any property damage and I hope that it stays that way.  I don't think that there will much sleeping done here either as there's just been one almighty gust of wind.  I've never known it this bad.

Thanks, Chris. I managed to reach the ridge tile, which was stuck in the gutter, (we live in a bungalow) but I didnt want to leave it there in case it fell on the dogs. Not going out there again though.
