Probably a wide and varied selection of weeds if I look too closely.
I hope to be growing some veg, to placate the local slug population away from any prize plants and clematis, and as usual providing the local field mice with a few peas hoping they might leave the odd one for those who planted them.
I shall also be praying to the local sun god to take less annual holiday this year so i can enjoy a few strawberries.

Like CB just really getting stuff tidied up a bit.
But we have sown some seeds, which will be interesting this year.
We're still in the planning stage really as we have lots of new ideas for this year.
Hoping, praying and crossing everything that we get a much better Summer this year :-x

As well as all the roses, hydrangeas and other shrubs, we have every spring flowering bulb you can think of. We are also growing lots of bedding plants from seed such as petunias, cornflowers, nasturtiums, rudbeckia, pansies and many more. Mum's also started the tomatoes, courgettes and cucumbers. Other flowers we have are primulas, fuschias and perennial marigolds.
A tip for growing tomatoes if you put a marigold in a pot in the greenhouse, it will stop black fly attacking the tomatoes. For some reason, black fly don't like marigolds.

I get white fly on mine, not black.

started herbs off inside last week
not worth starting anything else just now they get too leggy by the time they can be put out
tomatoes in abundance for me
and peas both for the tops grown intensely and others for the pods
lots of salad leaves and lettuces
try again at cucumbers
and all the usual suspects, spring onions radish etc
rasps, strawbs, blueberries, rhubarb and (mini) apples and pears (mini trees not mini fruits :^O)
chillies & peppers
think thats about it for me this year
concentrating on herbs so i can dehydrate a lot
almost finished last years but crops were poor last year
lets hope for a better growing season this year!:-D

We seem to get loads of white fly on our lupins. Oh for an influx of ladybirds this year.

i always companion plant
marigolds deter white fly
i plant then at my tomatoes
i never plant flowers for "having flowers" sake
my garden is small so i only plant what we can eat
but these are useful

After I've stopped laughing, what do you mean by biddies CB?
06-03-2013 9:15 PM
If you grow Basil next to your toms the whitefly home in on the basil and leave the tomatoes alone 🙂
06-03-2013 9:18 PM
oooh thank you
i grow several varieties of basil, i shall plant some at my toms 😄

ah well books there in lies the rub!! we don't know!!
I think we had earwigs, slugs, woodlice, vine weevil, midgy things that kept biting us:_| and things we couldn't see but they were munching on the leaves....
it won't be that bad this year as we've done a lot of clearing up, there was too much garden rubbish for these biddies to hide in...not now, I'm a coo on a mission]:)
