I just had to rush over to my daughters. She rang to say could I look after the children while her hubby takes her to A&E! She'd stood up and hit her head on an open locker door at the swimming pool.:O The first aider at the pool said she needed it stitching, but in fact she doesn't. I know I'm not a first aider but you can tell when something needs stitching. The amount of blood would have seemed more because her hair was wet. Even her hubby agreed, in fact I let him say it first and then agreed with him, and he's very cautious with that sort of thing. I suppose the first aider has to cover his back by suggesting A&E. It's strange because this morning I told my son how last night I'd bent down to pick up my dropped knitting needle, and bumped my forehead on the back of the chair next to me and he said yesterday he'd been getting a toy from under the bed (his baby's toy!X-() and bumped his head on the open bedside drawer. They say these things come in threes.:-D

aww i hope she's feeling ok CK, it can be upsetting, and your right the wet hair can make it look like there is more blood, is her tetanus up to date, cos that is probably one of the things the hospital would ask about.
Spots Merlin >> Quickly puts on a wig ( black one ) grey hair haha

puts the wig back and picks up the glasses :^O

Just got back from visiting MIL ...... that place is like a Hotel, no way can she not like it there :-x
there are only a handful of residents at the moment as its only just opened, but that will be better for her as she is nervous of large groups, meeting new people gradually as it fills up will be better for her, she has a TV, DVD player, Fridge & even internet access in her room 😮 not that she will use it, & her own en-suite wet room which she is scared of :-x
I WANT TO LIVE THERE TOO !
09-11-2010 11:37 PM
That sounds great CK. The stitchers will all have to move in in a few years time and then we can carry on chatting when we're too old to use the computer.;-)
The place my dad was in wasn't very nice, but there wasn't anything better in his price range, which was nil. Most of the staff were foreigners and with his dodgy hearing and their strong accents there wasn't much communication.:-(
09-11-2010 11:42 PM
That's a shame CG.:-( I do hope she settles in well CK.
Off to my bed now.
09-11-2010 11:47 PM
Night night maggie.:-x
09-11-2010 11:53 PM
:^O I can just imagine it .... fhg retirement home for stitchers & knitters.
Shame about your Dad 😞 I think MIL just fell lucky with her place & she gets full funding, she just needs to top it up with her pension.
No problem for her with accents their all West Yorks :^O
09-11-2010 11:56 PM
Nite Nite Maggie, sleep tight.
09-11-2010 11:58 PM
Oh I wish there'd been somewhere like that for my dad. He had full funding including his pension, and he had some pocket money, I can't remember how much it was. It was a very old house, like three or four terraced houses knocked into one. All the rooms were dark and small. I used to hate visiting him to be honest, it used to depress me.:-(

😞 it sounds awful, poor man,
I can imagine how upsetting it must have been for you to visit.

Morning ladies. We are all a bit sad in here this morning.
The sun is shining here but it is very cold. Just a quick dog walk & then sewing for me today.:-)
10-11-2010 9:54 AM
Morning ladies.:-D It's sunny here too, a little breezy and cold. I really must do some housework today as I have visitors coming some time this week,:O
10-11-2010 10:16 AM
Morning ladies.
Day off today and I have a list of things to do. Why does that not happen to men?
Glad your MIL is OK CK. Bet it sets your mind at rest, having seen her.
How is your daughter after her accident CG? Must have been a shock.
10-11-2010 11:47 AM
Good morning Ladies 🙂
Had family visiting, they are one their way home now,
so i may get some sewing done.
CK Its sound wonderful where your MIL is, It makes visiting time more a pleasure aswell i think. 🙂
CG its awful when you know the place is not right, but if it was the best available at the time, then you did all you could, I think the government's standards still need raising where care is needed, its a hard task as there are so many nursing homes, and i know that carer's need a strong stomach, but in some homes, well lets just say they need a good shake up.

I couldn't agree more, BIL says he looked at some terrible ones, he says that one had the top floor for Dementia patients only ... there were no windows except skylight ones, so basically they were put in the attic ... when he mentioned it he was told ... we put them up here so that they can't break any windows 😮
he said he walked outside & cried 😞
Where MIL is its a new build, there is a huge central staircase which splits at the top, one side is for residential care the other side is for dementia care, thankfully MIL is in the residential side to start with, they will move her to the other side when they feel the time is right.
When we were leaving I spoke to one of the cleaners ... well we had to ask her how to get out :^O
))))coded door locks((((
She told us she had worked in care homes for over 20 yrs & that this one was the nicest ones she ever had worked in :-x
Next task will be clearing out her house 😞
