UN wools :^O
No I know, its not really funny 😐 What wool are ya using Huggles, although I probably can't help, I only knit "ickle" things 🙂
Maybe you could call in the shop on your way home anyway & ask there advice 🙂 only other thing I can suggest is sewing with shorter length of wool ........ pulling the same piece through your knitting alot of times can cause it to stretch, especially if its "delicate"

Slaps Numpty 😮
confesses to skimming over & ignoring all the cleaning & ironing posts ...... I have dust & I have ironing that needs doing ....... it taunts me .....
but I am strong willed ...... I am managing to ignore it 😛

I'm surprised you don't understand unwools, it's a very technical term. 😐
It's that Twilleys Freedom stuff. Looks sort of only half spun. Bit like knitting with candy floss. 😐

I've never used it Huggles .... how about twisting it tighter as you sew & try to sew loosly 🙂

These aren't the answers I'm looking for CK! :^O I want to be told 'don't bother & use a thinner wool'!
07-10-2011 4:41 PM
I'm going to close early & nip into the wool shop where they will sympathise with unwooling. 😐
07-10-2011 4:48 PM
someone's tipped off the wool shop, just seen a closed sign go up:|

oK .... 'don't bother & use a thinner wool' 😐
as long as its similar in feel/texture i'm sure it will be fine 😄

WELL DONE ON FINISHING YOUR FIRST ITEM :-D:-D:-D :-D:-D:-D :-D:-D:-D :-D:-D:-D :-D:-D:-D

:^O:^O Numpty .... you is being very mean to poor Huggles :8}

Yeah but you is laffin:|:^O:-p

I know the yarn you mean and even shorter lengths do not solve the problem. Every time it is pulled through, you leave some of the yarn on one side and even causes bobbles. It gets thinner and thinner with every stitch. Even the sweat off your fingers as you are pulling it through causes it to stretch and snap.
The answer is to sew with another yarn that is a smooth one. I have never used embroidery thread, I get the nearest colour in 4-ply. Depending on the texture of the garment you have made (lots of holes - proper ones not dropped stitches!) then use a back-stitch to join the pieces together. If not holey (not church holy you understand) then use an over-stitch.
Now, if you can cast off and cast on then you can do button holes ...... but am liking your idea about bug poppers :^O

Yes Numpty ...... I was laughing ]:)
Good advice Geranne I forgot to ask Huggles if she was sewing it with backstitch ...... (I just assumed she was)
Now what i want to know is
How do you know Huggles has SWEATY FINGERS :O:^O]:):|

Evening
Also ignores cleaning posts (although I have vacuumed, dusted and done some washing today ;))
Don't want to be picky, but mattress stitch is best for joining seams on knitted items.

Any chance of that Pattern CK 🙂

learning, that's my 'over-stitch'
*remember to call it mattress stitch now I iz postin' wiv de profeshnuls* :^O
There are still times when I find that only a back stitch will do (large toys for example). Heavens, there are times when I crochet pieces together!
07-10-2011 6:07 PM
I always use back stich on toys 🙂
goes off to sort pattern for Learning 🙂
I may be a while, I need to connect up printer to my laptop before I can scan it 😞

NICE lady in the shop sorted me out with some woolly darning something stuff. 🙂
Got my bug poppers too.
I want to do mattress stitch, and I've watched the videos where it looks so obvious, but when I look at my edges they're more sort of 'bumpy' & I can't make out which stitch is which.
I'll have a serious try tomorrow (nods ernestly at wise Learned) 😐
And if it doesn't work I'll cobble it together some other way. ]:)
