Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Sieve is right, I know because I've been caught out with that one (on many occasions).  I have a friend I email, an old school friend, who still lives in Yorkshire, a place called Thorngumbald (could only be Yorkshire with a name like that!:^O) near Hull, which is where I was born:-( who goes to Whitby for a weeks holiday four times a year.  They never go anywhere else because they love it so much.

Right, I think I'll join Maggie in bed, not literally you understand, we don't have that sort of relationship!:O  I have a spotty grandchild coming in the morning!  Night night gems and ck if you're still around.:-x

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Mornin' All.  Not looking forward to the incoming frosts.  I've "done" winter now and certainly don't envy them thar peeps in Scotch-land.

CG, your cake got the thumbs up from PJ (PP obsessive now in training to be a Cinderella obsessive) :-D.

Merlin, I got my new toy yesterday - And am currently trying it out with orange & lemon slices.  Is there something that I need to do to narna slices to stop them looking manky & brown? I have lots of narnaz looking hopefully at it but I know they'll be rejected afterwards if they go all brown when i dry them.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

morning!!

when i did mine, (and i just totally made it up as i went, maybe googling will say different)

i got a pasta bowl and covered the bottom in lemon juice
i cut my bananas diagonally, but i always do anyways
this gives bigger "chips"
layed them in the lemon juice, turned, and placed on the rack, just sitting on the draining board to let drips, drip through

that was it, when i filled the tray (make sure they dont touch) just bunged them in

you did run it with nothing in it for the recommended time didnt you?

apart from that, they turned out just fine
i still have some of the first lot i did left and they are teh same as when i did them

asda have 3 bottle of lemon juice for £1 at the moment, which is the cheapest i can get it here,

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Pain free sounds good Maggie.  Just remember to go easy for a few days though - the tidying up can wait!!!

Yes, follwed the destructions, Merlin.  I was getting all impatient LOL!  My orange slices are a bit thick, I think but they are about half way there.  They're for the jars of lemon curd & orange curd.

I've just bought two bags of apples too, in preperation for the cinnamon & brown sugar apple rings - They sound divine!

I've got a list of stuff left to make so have been running around like a looney this morning trying to get it all in whilst PJ is at school so I can do it when they're in bed.  Mulling syrup is next on the list if I can find any pesky whole allspice. I have ground stuff though so will use that if I have to.  I'll just have to sieve it very very well LOL!

That's fine as long as it is just on your armpits, remember not to wear an underwired bra or tights

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Maybe different area's have different rules but I had a treadmill ECG earlier this year, it was Ok for me to keep my underwired bra on (I don't have any other kind :^O)

Good luck Gems you'll feel like your climbing Everest 😉

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

orange slices will take at least 14 hrs Oh Pee
longer if they are thicker than recommended

and i should have said, take out the pips

i also use a skewer to push through the flesh, so its easy to attach string/ribbon etc after they are dried

making christmas sacks for their christmas eve hampers

pringles & coffee is a balanced lunch, right?:^O
