Can anyone give me advise on how to ease the pain of sensitive teeth please, apart from using sensitive toothpaste of course. I have receding gums due to age. Currently on A/B's for a gum infection. Thank you in advance for any suggestions so that I can enjoy hot and cold drinks again without cringeing, LOL

The toothpaste does work Carol. I don't know of anything else. Aloclair gel is wounderful for sore gums.

After using the T/P, use the mouthwash for sensitive teeth.

I agree the toothpaste does work really well. My dentist suggested putting a pea size piece of toothpase on your finger and rubbing it in to the affected bits. Also, I don't know if this is relevent, but when I started using it I automatically rinsed after use, I then complained that it wasn't working and got thoroughly told off. It is the salts in the paste that works and although you can spit you can't rinse!!

That must be where I am going wrong then, as I rinse afterwords. Thank you

Hi - I have found that Sensodyne works quite well, but one of my friends said that it doesn't work too well for her and she uses the stuff that you put on babies gums when they are teething and she swears by it. Could be worth trying it in conjunction with the toothpaste perhaps?

Carol my teeth are SO sensitive and they have been since my dental treatment last week driving me mad!!!. The Sensitive toothpastes do work you have to persevere and my dentist told me to even rub it along the gum or wherever its sore. I cannot use normal toothy paste anymore. Fluffypenguin is right Bonjela for adults i use that too, and its good!!!. I hope they feel better soon, its horrible and painful when you eat or drink.

Taken my last A/B this morning and still got toothache, so looks like I will have to phone the dentist again in the morning if it still persists. Has anyone used "Oil of Cloves" for toothache? I'm told it works.

Oohhh Carol yes you should maybe get them looked at the dentist may be able to suggest something else. I have used Clove Oil once but it made it more sore so i never tried again. Its not the same for everyone though, you could try. You Poor thing, i hope maybe it eases!! ouch ouch.

Phoned the dentist and was told to see how it goes over the weekend and that sometimes the A/B's don't work until you have finished them (not heard that one before) My dentist isnt there today anyway, and is on holiday all next week. Thanks for your good wishes Peeps.

Thanks, Rose. The lower tooth is really hurting now since the dentist poked and prodded it; she took an x-ray of it and the upper one; said there is a fine crack in the lower one but she doesn't know how deep it goes; the upper one shows that the nerve is near to the filling. She put some "medicine" on them and said wait a week or two to see if they settle down, otherwise could be root canal work.
Uurrgghh! Normally, going to the dentist doesn't bother me, but the thought of Root Canal work has me running to the loo! xx

OOOhhhh Carol,,,,,, yes the thing is you have to sit there for so long normally,. I hope the medicine eases it maybe soon. Mine that i had filled the other week is still hurting a bit but i have had teeth like that before. When they are prodded even i think it unsettles your tooth and mouth and can take a long time to settle so to speak. you do not really know if you have a problem if you have sensitive teeth it can be hard to tell!!!. You will get it sorted try not to worry.
