PORRIDGE, RICE PUDDING.

Now i see all the porridges are getting new flavours and fruit added. I have never been able to take to porridge i do not understand the funny taste and its lumpy but tried one that had Golden Syrup but still did not like the taste. I want to try one of the new fruitier ones as they have more in them to take the taste off of just blandness. I like oaty things like cereals or Flapjacks so i dont get why i do not like porridge?. Everyone seems to eat the new instant ones and im determined as its good for you. Is it fattening?.

I have only just come to eating Rice Pudding in the past few years as they have flavoured that and i love Muller Rice now especially Toffee and banana, abd the Maple Syrup one. I also like the tinned one with sultanas and nutmeg in!!!!.

What do others think with the cold winter coming, do you eat porridge?.

PORRIDGE, RICE PUDDING.

Proper porridge, not instant, made with milk and served with honey or brown sugar; hot rice pudding with nutmeg; stews and casseroles; suet puddings...

Winter? Bring it on!

I like rice pudding cold, just as it is.

But porridge, I prefer with evaporated milk and brown sugar on.  Not supposed to

have that though, so I only do very occasionally and try it with banana or a tiny

dab of cream.

I have an aunt who makes porridge for her breakfast most days.  She just adds hot water and cooks it - YUK!!   No milk, no honey, no sugar - it just looks like lumpy wallpaper paste.  When I was visiting her once she made me some for my breakfast and I just couldn't manage to eat it at all.

Porridge made with milk and sugar for me.  Quite thick with an inch of evaporated milk on top. Yummy.  I don't eat pudding but I don't dislike rice pud.  Couldn't eat it cold though and couldn't eat that brown skin you get on the top!!  YUKK!

I like all oaty things, love rice pud too, especially the nutmeggy skin.

I make porridge half milk half water, I always make it too thick I think but I love it that way. Top of the milk on it too....oh and a wee pinch of salt. Not bothered about sugar, can take it or leave it.

People say potato skin, fish skin, chicken skin and rice pudding skin is the best bit!!  They're all disgusting!!  (Not that I've tried any of them, but there are a lot of things I haven't tried but I bet they're disgusting too!)  Smiley Wink

I have never understood why anyone buys instant porridges, as it's so quick to make it properly!  I make it with water and salt, and add milk and honey when it's in the dish. Rice pudding, on the other hand, I like out of a tin!

It does beg the question, why eat something you obviously dislike so much?

My friend says 'I eat porridge for breakfast' then she admits its Ready Brek!!!

Nooooooo - that is not porridge that is just very expensive floor sweepings!!

Porridge is real oats made with milk or water.  Ok i do have a spoonful of golden syrup on it and I eat it all year round.  Pure and simple its a super food like no other.

I had some oats for breakfast this morning - not hot, just as they are with some chopped up dried prunes, fresh strawberries and some sunflower seeds - milk and a tad of sugar - it was lush and filled me up for hours.

Rice pudding - yes please done in the oven (or ground rice) and save the skin for me!!! yummy!!!
