NEARLY 50

I will be fifty next year and am not very happy about it, it fact im a bit scared. The years have gone so fast and i just cannot believe it only seemed a blink of an eye when i could not wait to be 18!!!!!!.

Is anyone else a bit daunted or has been daunted about reaching a milestone age?

40 was not too bad, but i remember saying to my mum and dad "oh you have reached the half way mark"!!!!!!!, LOL,LOL,LOL,.

Tell me im not alone ha ha ha.

No rose you are not alone, I was 50 3 years ago and I had a right panic, could see myself as old in a home or on a zimmer frame coming up really quickly, I quite often felt like crying, it was so scarry.

Didn't care about 40 that was fine but 50 ouch.

Ok now got used to it and there really is nothing you can do about it, Now I seem to be regressing and behave very silly listen to daft music and sing at the top of my voice, either that or I am going barmey.

Well I'm 51 now and it really is nothing to worry about, honestly.

It is a milestone birthday but you don't really feel any different,

well I didn't anyway.  On my 50th birthday (in November) I went

swimming in the sea 'cos I felt I had to do something that I

enjoy and that was also proof that I wasn't quite ready to stop

having fun just yet!

So don't worry about it, use the special day to have fun doing

something you like, the day after you are fifty is no different to

the day before.

this funny 50th birthday gag gift is the perfect birthday gift idea ...  Hey Rose its not that bad honest, you are only as old as you feel, me I am still 25. Speak to my friends they will tell you I neither look(I wish) or behave like a 53 year old and I refuse to think of myself as old.

If you feel scared about approaching 50, what will you feel like when approaching 60

They are just numbers, you are as old as you feel

Incidentally, I am 65 next year.

I'll be 60 in 18 months time and that is a bit daunting (free prescriptions! Unfortunately free bus passes have gone up to 64 now!) but I still only feel in my 30's. As long as I can still get out with my dogs, that's all that matters to me really. My health went when I was in my early 20's so I accept that and just get on with things. After all, it's just a number Woman Happy

Nothing to be daunted about at all.

I was 50 last year and had the mother of all parties where I was amongst the youngest!

I still wear very fashionable clothes and love getting my jeans at River Island as they are very flattering.  Thankfully although I still have a little bit of a "mummy tummy" I am still a size 12.

I had my son when I was 35 and he is now about to turn 16. He keeps me very young.

In fact when I had my belly pierced when I was about 48 - my son said he was pleased that I was "a today mum" and not a "yesterday mum" - high praise indeed.

Remember - it takes 17 muscles to smile and 44 muscles to frown - SO KEEP SMILING 🙂

Another way of looking at it is that you're as old as you feel.  I feel about 95 in the body but about 10 in the head!!!

Yup thats the one, I did discuss with my son about buying a pair of red converse trainers, oh mother he said you must be joking, He doesn't want me to get them as we would have matching pairs, what a spoil sport .

I wish I could go back to being 50!.

The only birthday of note that frightened me was my 29th.  It suddenly hit me that I'd soon be 30!  I didn't think 30 was old, just properly grown up and I would need to show I was a responsible adult.  The fact that I was married and had two children was beside the point!  Smiley Very Happy

I'm 58 and to be honest it's not the age number that worried me, it's the fact I can't walk properly on me hooves......that frightens me more that I'll end up a tottering old coo. I feel I am about 7 in the head, and like Chris, 95 in the bodylaffing smiley 3.gif

I was 50 in March, it's great! I know so much more than when I was younger and have more confidence too. Be glad you've made it - many don't 🙂

There's no reason for feeling daunted, it really is just a number.  I don't really think of birthdays as milestones, just as nice days with chocolate cake!  On your 50th birthday you'll only be a day older than yesterday. 50 doesn't feel any different, neither does 60.  It's what you're like that matters, not how long you've been here!
