I sold a (brand new with labels) Mango beige denim playsuit and clearly described it as denim, even using the word 3 times in different places including ‘fabric type.’ I listed it for half the price but accepted her offer of 33% less. Posted it straightaway on Sat and she received it Mon. Thought she’d be really pleased and expected a great review. Tues she says she wants a refund and sends me pictures of her wearing it, claiming it was wrong texture, fabric and colour - “more heavy denim than cargo.” Nowhere had I mentioned ‘cargo’ & photos showed fabric clearly as denim. I explained colour was dependent on lighting. Photos she took made the item look grey - I’d photographed it again before sending & it was clearly beige - my friend actually wondered if she’d used a filter but, again, it could have been down to lighting. Spoke to eBay and they reassured me I would be paid as item was exactly as described but I had to leave it 3 days and call back. Called back and different agent agreed it was exactly as described and explained the process. I’d be paid, the dishonest buyer would receive a refund and get to keep the item! I could ask her to return it and pay postage but she was under no obligation to do so. I made a complaint that I thought if eBay decide to reward a dishonest buyer, they should be responsible for getting it back to them or me. I wanted it to go to charity shop rather than give it to someone who was clearly dishonest and used Seller Protection to try on outfits to see if they suited her - why else would she try on something that was all the things she claimed. I also pointed them to the one listing she had up for sale: a coffee machine under ‘new - other’ that she has used for a year! Their response was that I should report her and then next time she makes a fraudulent claim under Buyer Protection, they might refuse to pay her. I’ve now blocked her and am having second thoughts about using eBay going forward and I’d definitely never use it to sell high value items.
