Seller has requested me not to leave feedback. Is this normal practice?

Seller is offering me a partial refund for a faulty item, but is requesting that I don't leave any feedback. Is this allowed by eBay? Would I have to agree to the seller's request? I have genuine concerns about going along with such practice, as it feels somewhat underhand.  I would prefer to leave neutral feedback simply to alert other eBay users of the problem with the item I purchased.

A seller can politely ask a buyer not to leave bad feedback if an understanding and resolution is reached for the transaction

They would need to offer a full refund on return of their item under eBay's 30 day MBG,  but a partial refund is entirely between you and the seller, they are not obliged to offer this.

Although a neutral feedback doesn't directly impact a seller's account,  it does stand out for other buyers to read.

Entirely up to you,  you experienced this transaction only you know if even after a partial refund is it necessary and justifiable to leave that neutral feedback.

If there is a problem with the item you purchased why not just open a not as described claim, send it back at sellers cost and get a full refund.

You don't have to abide to the sellers request, leaving feedback is your choice.

Best to get a full refund and buy again ... You have 30 days from receipt to open a Return case as 'Item not as described' ... Escalate to eBay after 4 days to receive a Prepaid Return label ... do not close the case without satisfactory conclusion. >
