Outpricing for buyers and sellers.

I offer items of clothing when I am clearing out.  I also offer hand crochet and knitted item for next to nothing for those who appreciate hand crafted items.

I accepted recently £5 offer for a pure new wool hand knitted beanie and I only chargeed £2.80 for postage.

I was horrified to learn small parcel was now £3.75 2nd class.

This lead me to write the following on my posts;

Please read:-
It is with regret, that postage costs have just risen again and the cost of small parcel is minimum £3.75 (included in price of this item)  To keep costs as low as possible this means items will be posted 2nd class with proof of posting.  This also means any items lost in the post once posted with proof of posting that refunds cannot be given for items not received.  Please do contact your local post office if this does ever happen to you.  In my own experience this has only happened twice and money lost unfortunately without any reimbursement from Royal Mail.  If you wish to pay the extra to have the item posted signed for, that is an option I can provide.  Sadly this makes sales and purchases more difficult for both the buyer and the seller to achieve more agreeable pricing.    To the buyer: I do appreciate you taking the time to view my items and your purchases are greatly appreciated.  Thank You.

Basically feeling its pointless to continue selling anything on ebay

So I am thinking do I just make this my last attempt to offer things at a reasonable price as to do so seems the effort involved for very little exchange hardly seems worth it.

I wonder if others may be thinking the same.  If anyone has any further suggestions.

I appreciate any feedback.

The cost of tracked and signed for just puts up the costs and in some cases outprices things.  I cannot afford to compensate buyers if royal mail fails to deliver which I note is included in all the postage options now.

Outpricing for buyers and sellers.

You shouldn’t be asking buyers to chase up missing items at the post office, that's never worked in my experience, and you can't pass the responsibility for missing items onto them either,  it's long been your responsibility to make sure it is delivered and refund if not. Royal mail tracked 48 is still showing as £3.39 for a small parcel up to 2KG as far as I can see, insured up to £150 and collected from your door by the postman if you want.  Charge a bit more for your items? especially if they are hand made, someone might still be along to buy them sooner or later.
